Amy Pikler is a first-year Viola Fellow at the New World Symphony. This past summer she toured eastern Canada with l’Orchestre de la Francophonie, Orford Arts Center and Youth Orchestra of the Americas. Other summer programs include the Aspen Festival and American Academy of Conducting Orchestras at the Aspen Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Chautauqua Music Festival Orchestra. She was first place winner of the 2015 American Viola Society Orchestral Excerpts Competition and received a Farwell Trust Award from the Musicians Club of Women (Chicago). She will be performing at the Chicago Cultural Center in March 2016. Ms. Pikler received her bachelor’s degree in viola performance with highest honors from the University of Michigan where she served as co-principal violist of the University Symphony Orchestra. She studied viola with Yizhak Schotten and has studied violin and viola with Desiree Ruhstrat and Charles Pikler, and recorder with Patrick O’Malley. She is currently a member of the Ann Arbor Symphony.
At Buskerfest, Miss Pikler, also a Virtuoso Recorder player, will be joined by her colleagues from the New World Symphony.
