Irma: we wish we never heard of ya. If you’re reading this, there’s about a 101% chance that your life was temporarily put on hold while Mother Nature reminded us who is actually in charge. Our friends in the Keys had it the worst. If you have the time and resources, please consider joining local relief efforts. There are still tons of folks without shelter, food and electricity. If you’re in need of some emotional release (who isn’t?) there are a smattering of things this weekend where you can join your fellow South Floridians to unleash your frustrations. Here are some options that look particularly enticing to us.

Friday, September 15

The Wynwood Yard Reopening w/ JUke, 9PM

No neighborhood was safe from Irma, including Wynwood, which still remains dark and internetless in many corners. The Yard has cleared their debris and many of their food and drink vendors are up and running. JUke will be serving up their hot and funky post-blues to exercise our collective demons. To the best of our knowledge, their card machines are working so no need to stuff your pockets with cash. Entry is completely free if you just want to hang.

Saturday, September 16

Inside Out Community Weekend, PAMM, 1-4PM

PAMM is turning herself inside out in the most family friendly way imaginable. Enjoy the final day of the Inside|Out Exhibit, live music from OIGO and artmaking on the beautiful terrace. Admission is free for residents of Biscayne Park, Opa-Locka, Overtown, North Miami Beach and Surfside, but everyone else can partake for the usual entry fee. Take a frolic in neighboring Museum Park when you are done and enjoy some fresh air and the bay breeze.

Sunday, September 17th

Counter Corner, 1306, 10:30PM

Your freak flag has been in the humid, 90-degree closest for almost a week. Time to break that bad boy out! Counter Corner, the monthly queer party hosted by Hialeah’s own Juleisy and Karla returns to 1306 in Downtown Miami. You never can tell exactly what to expect on the Corner, but you know it will leave you changed. This round DJ Zehno is on the decks, there will be surprise artist appearances and a smattering of local vendors. They are also collecting donations for Irma relief efforts because why not?!

Thursday, September 21

Buskerfest Miami 2017 Launch Party, Concrete Beach, 6-9PM

That’s RIGHT! Buskerfest Miami 2017 is coming at you! We’ve got some really fun plans in store for year five. Come join us at Concrete Beach next Thursday as we open the call-to-artists, volunteer sign up and reveal the festival date. We’ll have some entertainment on hand and an open mic for the more adventurous. Bring it Miami. BRING IT!

Stay safe, cool and together this weekend as we let out a collective sigh of relief from our hurricane riddled souls.

Much Love,

The Buskerfest Team
