First things first – Thank you to everyone who donated to nonprofits yesterday for Give Miami Day. It’s inspiring to see $10M in a single day donated by Miamians. Good job team! A special thank you to the Buskerfest family members who donated to our cause. We raised $5,560 – you all outdid yourselves! That funding will go towards making Buskerfest Miami 2017, our fifth annual festival, the best yet. If you missed Give Miami Day, you can still support Buskerfest each and every day over here.
We still need volunteers! Don a yellow shirt and get to know your local musicians up close and personal on December 15. Apply today to join the team!
Now onto the fun stuff. Here’s some selected happenings for your delight and pleasure this weekend. Better get it in before the holidays and Baselmania descend on the 305.
Friday, November 17
Head South my son for an improv comedy show hosted by our good friends at Artistic Vibes. For a mere $5, the Cutler Bay Community Theater will play games that delight and cause giggles. It’s been a freaking long week and you need a laugh, right?
Saturday, November 18
Tis the season for BEER! Concrete Beach is set to release Deck the Walls, a spiced imperial porter (DROOOOL) and to celebrate, they are shutting down NW 24th St outside the brewery for an afternoon of food, live art and live music. Local favorites the Hoy Polloy and JUke will be holding down the fort, while a select group of artists battle to design the seasonal brew’s can. And if that weren’t enough, some of the proceeds for beer sales will go to our good pals, Life Is Art. You can have your fun and do good at the same time. Win Win.
Sunday, November 19
Have y’all seen the Scottish Rite Temple? Ever wanted to go inside? For once, you can and at the same time, enjoy some tasteful chamber music by Orchestra Miami. Tickets are $30 ($5 for students) to take in some intimate music in an intimate setting. Can’t make it this weekend? This is the first of four “Sunday Salons” so you will have another shot soon.
Get ready, Miami. Winter is here Monday with the arrival of 60 degree high temps. Brrr.
