Well, this is the week where we are reminded of the value of umbrellas, galoshes, roof repairs and covered bus stops. The rain will stop. It MUST stop. Thankfully, events in Miami are typically rain or shine, so even if you find yourself damp towards the weekend, you can still have some fun times. Grooves & Food Festival: Summer Edition, 5-11pm, Smart Bites To Go
Smart Bites To Go is a fantastic local restaurant in Allapattah that serves health conscious food. After a recent renovation of their beautiful garden space, they’ve decided to share it with you! Grooves & Food Festival is the first of those activations and promises a lot of great local music and comedy, an open mic for the more adventurous attendees and happy hour pricing on drinks and food. Processional Arts Workshop: an artistic hands-on collaboration, June 9-16
Been to Vizcaya Village yet? It’s a neat little historic village that housed the former servants of the Vizcaya that just recently became open to the public. The kind folks at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens are offering art crafting workshops this weekend in the Village. Attendees will learn how to make handcrafted lanterns that will be used in an upcoming site-specifc performance on June 17. The workshops are FREE to attend with RSVP. Don’t just watch the art – MAKE IT!

Midtown Miami Arts & Music Festival, Shops at Midtown, 6-10pm
Midtown Miami Magazine is doing a great thing and staging local performers in the normally sterile green spaces of Midtown (way to go guys!). This 10-day festival comes to a peak this weekend with a variety of enticing offerings Saturday night. Enjoy yoga led by Afrobeta (and see them perform later on) and performances by The Galactic Effect, Nocturnal Status and EONS. The event is FREE, although it wouldn’t be Midtown without a VIP package for $25.
