It’s shaping up to be another delightful South Florida weekend. Open your windows, turn the AC off and bask in what makes this part of the country so great. And with such great weather, you have no excuses to stay cooped up. Thankfully, there’s plenty to do, starting with…

Thursday, February 1

Sola Sessions with Brasoul, Concrete Beach Brewery, 6:30PM

Last November, the kind folks at Concrete Beach Brewery came to us with an idea to program local bands each and every Thursday in their Social Hall. Sola Sessions, now entering it’s fourth month, provides a weekly opportunity to get to know some of the top performers from previous Buskerfest Street Performance Festivals. They also serve dynamite beer and have rotating food vendors. It’s the perfect happy hour and this week’s show will have you swaying to samba-drenched stylings of Brasoul, Miami’s own Brazilian music collective.

Friday, February 2

Samora Pinderhughes: The Transformations Suite, Miami Light Project, 8PM

MDC’s Museum of Art and Design (MOAD MDC) has a STACKED weekend for you. First up is world-renowned pianist and composer, Samora Pinderhughes, who offers his Transformations Suite – a theatrical, musical, poetic piece exploring social injustice and inequality around the world. Art provides the opportunity to thoughtfully reflect on our world and reexamine methods of change. Here’s a great chance to do so Friday for a mere $15 (and $5 for students).

Saturday, February 3

Carrie Mae Weems: Past Tense, MDC Wolfson Auditorium Building 1, 7:30PM

The second part of MOAD’s double-header is a performance by Carrie Mae Weems entitled Past Tense. Head to Downtown Miami (our favorite neighborhood) this Saturday night for a multidisciplinary performance/lecture that takes a deep dive into the story of Antigone, a story from Greek mythology that has been the source material for creative work for millenia. Discover how this story offers reflection on the challenges of our own time through a master storyteller. Tickets are also only $15 or $5 if you’re a student.

Sunday, February 4

Nicole Yarling Jazz Quartet, 1100 Lincoln Road, 1PM

The Lincoln Road BID has been (literally) turning it up a notch for the past several month. There’s tons of free arts programming on “The Road” and this weekend features a free show by a familiar face from Miami’s Jazz community, Nicole Yarling. Head to the West end of Lincoln Road on Sunday at 1pm for an allstar quartet in the beautiful open air.

Just The Tip Comedy Show, Yo Space Gallery & Studios, 8PM

Super Bowl, Schmuper Bowl. Everyone knows the Patriots are going to win anyway and the commercial game has been whack for years. Head to Yo Space for their recurring comedy show, Just The Tip. You know you’re going to have a good time – it’s a sure thing, unlike the fooseball. It’s also FREE!

That should keep you busy. Catch you next week, friends!

Much Love,

The Buskerfest Team
