We’re back with some quick hits for all the fun you can handle this weekend. The Magic City continues to barrel forward with more and more planned for the Summer months. This week is no exception. Grab your day planner and a pen – things are about to get…sticky…

FAM Fest, Miami Light Project, 6PM – 12AM (Sunday)

One of Miami’s premiere b-boy collectives, Flipside Kings, hosts its annual breakdancing, music and art festival this weekend at Miami Light Project. This event is PACKED! Friday starts with DJ sets inside and outside of the Lightbox with open dance cyphers throughout. The best of the best will be chosen from Friday’s cyphers to compete in the UDEF certified competition and eligible for cash money prizes on Saturday. Miami’s empresarios of live music, Spam Allstars, will also be blessing Saturday with a show. We hear there is free beer too at some point. $25 advance tickets get you in for both days. $20 tickets (per day) available at the door. Time to bust a move.

Saturday, August 12

Moksha Arts Collective Presents “Indivisible”, 599 NW 71st Street, 6pm

The Moksha Arts Collective opens their doors for a gallery and music showcase! This crew has been around for years, migrating from Little Haiti to their current location in Little River. Check out some truly psychedelic art, live painting, “virtual” art (hmmmm K), and of course, live music from the likes of Galactic Effect, Roosevelt Collier and the Moksha Roots Allstars. Free before 9pm and only a measly $10 after.

Sunday, August 13

Popcorn Frights Film Fest, O Cinema

Need a break from the brutal temps? Head on down to O Cinema, everybody’s fave independent movie theater, for the kick-off of the third annual Popcorn Frights Film Festival. You’re sure to catch a chill with 2-3 screenings of independent horror films every day until August 17. Bring a date and see which of you screams like a girl first. Most showings are $12 and some include Q&As with production team members.

That should keep you plenty busy till Monday. We’re OFF next week, traveling on another buskadventure. Keep it tuned to our friends at The New Tropic and Soul of Miami in the meantime.

Much Love,

The Buskerfest Team
