Holy cow, where has the time gone? We leave town for a little jaunt to Europe and all of a sudden it’s late April and Summer is threatening with heat and downpours. Better get it while it’s (not) hot, Miami. Here’s a small collection of things we’ll be doing this weekend. Maybe you should do them too!

Manual Cinema: Lula Del Rey, 8pm

O, Miami has been up to their usual tricks spraying poetry all over Miami-Dade County this April. But, the fun eventually must come to an end. Thankfully, they’ve left the best for last with three performances from Manual Cinema, the masters of shadow puppetry, at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. This show is inspired by the music of Country legends Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Roy Orbison and is a “reinvention of the classic coming-of-age story.” Yee-haw!

Spam Allstars Album Release Party, North Beach Bandshell, 7-10pm

Time to pay your respects to the godfathers and godmothers of the Miami music scene: the Spam Allstars. These troubadours have been gracing our stages and festivals with their unique blend of latin and electronic tuneage since time immemorial. And yet the hits keep on coming! Help Spam celebrate the release of Trans-Oceanic at our favorite Atlantic-Oceanic venue, the North Beach Bandshell. $5 to get in, but $10 nets you a CD (remember those?) and $15 gets you a vinyl copy.

Love In – Party in the Park, Greynolds Park, 11am-6pm

Things were so much simpler during the 60s. Well, at least what we can remember of them. Miami-Dade County is throwing a musical celebration featuring tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s in Greynolds Park, site of many many peace demonstrations from those eras. Get down wit yo bad self for only $15 advance purchase/$20 day-of tickets. They’ll have food trucks, costume contests, craft vendors and music by Havoc 305, Bootleg Rock Band, Big Rock Band and more.

See you around town fam!

Much Love,

The Buskerfest Team
