We are back after a short respite following Buskerfest Miami 2016 with more unasked for recommendations about how to spend your time (and sometimes dollars)! Trust the experts, friends. We know how to party on a budget and here are our recommendations for an overloaded New-Year-Weekend:
Friday, December 30
Mother’s Garden, 7pm – 2am at Naomi’s Garden
Prem Barbosa is back with his quarterly showcase of underground Miami bands at the picturesque Naomi’s Garden in Little River. This musical ménage-à-cinq features sets from Somewhat Hungover, The Highlifers, The Nostalgic Minds, The Uncanny Reservoir and event hosts, Mother. Price = $0, although you would be foolish not to taste Naomi’s island cooking.

King Mango Strut, 2-6pm in Coconut Grove
I thought long about how to describe the King Mango in words, but it’s indescribable. They are the self proclaimed “weirdest parade in the universe.” When you’re right, you’re right. Tumble down the Grove rabbit hole this Saturday and don’t bother coming back.
Pitbull’s New Year Revolution, 8pm in Bayfront Park
Pitbull seems to be conflicted between being the emissary of Miami (Mr. 305) or an ambassador for the planet (Mr. Worldwide). We will forgive him this crisis of identity for one weekend since he’s throwing a massive party in our favorite place, Bayfront Park. It’s supposedly free to attend and includes performances by Biz Markie, Salt-N-Pepa, Coolio, Tone Loc, Young MC and Naughty By Nature. Tonight were gonna party like it’s Nineteen Ninety Three! Big up to sponsor Bayfront Park Trust, who are big Buskerfest Miami supporters.

Average Joe Sunday Market and Just the Tip Comedy Show, 4pm at YOmiami
Since you probably won’t be turning in till after 2am and brunch waits will be ridic, we wouldn’t plan on doing anything before 4pm. YOmiami’s Average Joe Sunday Market is the perfect place to relax and view economically priced work from local artists. Stick around for Just the Tip at 7:30pm where you can wind down with some free comedy in an intimate setting. Just don’t sit too close to the stage for fear of being made the subject of crowd play.
That’s it for this week. See you in the New Year!
Much Love,
The Buskerfest Team
